DNS propagation refers to the time it takes for changes to a DNS record to be reflected across all resolvers globally. It can take anywhere from a few minutes to 48 hours depending on the TTL value of the record being changed and the caching behaviour of individual resolvers. We manage TTL values strategically to make propagation as fast as possible for planned changes.
Will there be any downtime during DNS configuration?
For standard record additions and updates, there is no downtime. For changes that involve rerouting web traffic or email to a new destination, the risk of downtime is managed through advance TTL reduction, careful sequencing of changes, and monitoring during the propagation window. We plan for zero downtime and tell you in advance if a particular change carries any risk.
Do you need full access to our DNS management console?
We request the minimum level of access needed to complete the work. In most cases, this means access to the DNS management area of your domain registrar or hosting control panel. We are happy to work under supervision if you prefer to retain direct control of the console while we direct the changes.
